April Action Films

April 2010 is set to be a big month in the cinema action genre. Three big action movies are set to be released in April and each of them is much different than the next. The Clash of the Titans should be able to compete for the top movie of 2010, but Alice in Wonderland seems to have a stranglehold on the box office after an impressive opening weekend. However, The Clash of the Titans is also in 3D which it seems like all top grossing movies have to be these days (Avatar, Alice in Wonderland). Later on in the month on April 16th, Kick-Ass is released. Kick-Ass looks like it's going to be an awesome movie with a ton of action and just some feel good nerdy kids succeeding as super heroes in this rough world we live in. Kick-Ass gets my dark horse vote to be one of the box office surprises of the season. Then, a week later on April 23rd, The Losers is released. April looks like it's going to be a solid month for action movies with three seemingly quality flicks being released.

The Clash of the Titans is a remake of the successful 1981 film, but with much better graphics. Almost thirty years will do that in the film industry. Sam Worthington (Avatar) stars as Perseus who must lead a war against Hades in this Greek mythology inspired thriller. Perseus has to fight a ton of disgusting creatures and demons in this thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Just beware of the Kraken because that beast looks like it could do some damage!

Kick-Ass is next on the action list this month and this may be the movie I'm most looking forward to. The basis of the movie is just so correct and I think every male who grew up watching the power rangers, spider-man, the ninja turtles, the flash and more can attest. Every kid grows up wanting to be a super hero. The character from this movie was just crazy enough to actually do it. So many people will be able to relate to this movie that it is sure to be a box office hit. Add in Hit Girl and you have a solid everyday teenager superhero with an intense little girl that kills on sight. This movie just has everything that an ex comic book lover like me could want.

The Losers is the last movie of the three to be released and I have to say it's the one I'm least looking forward to. That being said I'm still going to watch it and I still expect it to be good. Any movie about a special ops team that is looking for vengeance on the CIA after being betrayed definitely gets at least a view from me. Add in the fact that Zoe Saldana looks amazing in the trailer and you have a great recipe for a successful film.

Three of the films I'm most looking forward to in April are in the action genre. The Clash of the Titans looks like a great fantasy thriller that could rival any movie this year. Second in the month is Kick-Ass, which I believe will surpass the highest expectations. Then we have The Losers. I think this movie could be a bust, but I'm definitely going to watch it and find out. Make sure to get to your cinema often in April to keep up on the action flicks being released!
